I'm not a career politician. I'm a physicist, a veteran, an environmentalist, a grandfather, and a lifelong public servant. I've spent my career solving hard problems at NIH, at IBM Research, and at MILCOM Systems Corporation, the company my parents founded and headquartered right here in Virginia. I served six years as a U.S. Army Reserve officer. I've worked with The Nature Conservancy and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to protect the land and water we depend on. I'm an elected director with the Virginia Dare Soil and Water Conservation District and the Virginia Beach Open Space Advisory Committee because I believe stewardship isn't just a word, it's a responsibility.

What I've learned through all of it is simple: the best solutions come from listening, understanding the facts, and doing the work. That's what a scientist does. That's what a soldier does. And that's what I intend to do in Congress.

VA-CD2 deserves a representative who will fight for small businesses, protect our coastline and waterways, invest in education and student mental health, and put country over politics every single time. I'm running as an Independent Democrat because the people of this district deserve someone who answers to them, not to party leadership.

My wife and I have built our life here in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Our sons grew up here. Our grandchildren are growing up here. The future of this community is personal to me in a way no talking point can capture.

I'm asking for your support and your vote on August 4th Primary. Early in-person voting at your voter registrar's office continues until August 1st. You can also vote for me by mail or vote in person on August 4th.

With gratitude,
Bill Fleming
Independent Democrat for U.S. House of Representatives, VA-CD2
