Bill Fleming's roots in Virginia run deep. He attended Virginia public schools before earning undergraduate and graduate degrees in physics from NC State University. Throughout his life, he has remained committed to the communities, families, farms, waterways, and neighborhoods that make Virginia unique.
Today, Bill is running for Congress because he believes strong communities are built from the ground up. As a lifelong Virginian, he understands the importance of thriving local businesses, affordable healthcare, economic opportunity, and responsive government that reflects the needs of the people it serves.

SCIENTIST
As a physicist, Bill has built a career around asking questions, following evidence, and solving complex problems. His work has taken him from the National Institutes of Health to IBM Research and later to MILCOM Systems Corporation in Virginia Beach.
Bill believes government works best when decisions are guided by evidence rather than ideology. Whether addressing healthcare, education, research, or fiscal challenges, he brings a scientific mindset focused on solving problems and delivering results.

VETERAN
Through ROTC at NC State University, Bill earned his commission and served six years in the U.S. Army Reserve.
His military service reinforced the values of duty, teamwork, and putting mission before self. Those lessons continue to shape his belief that leadership means service, accountability, and a commitment to country above politics.
In Congress, Bill will work to support veterans and military families, protect constitutional government, and approach America's role in the world with seriousness, strength, and responsibility.

HUSBAND & GRANDPA
Bill and his wife, an immunologist from Roanoke whom he met while working at the National Institutes of Health, raised two sons and now enjoy the energy and excitement of two grandsons and a granddaughter.
Being a husband and grandfather gives Bill a personal stake in the future. He wants every child to inherit strong schools, economic opportunity, healthy communities, and a country prepared to meet the challenges of the next generation.
When Bill thinks about the decisions made in Washington, he thinks about the world we will leave to future generations.

PUBLIC SERVANT
Service has been a constant throughout Bill's life.
He has worked with organizations including The Nature Conservancy, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, the Soil Food Web, and the Virginia Association of Biological Farming. He currently serves as a Virginia Beach Director with the Soil and Water Conservation District and on the Virginia Beach Open Space Advisory Committee.
Through decades of community involvement and conservation leadership, Bill has seen firsthand how responsible stewardship strengthens both communities and economies. He believes protecting Virginia's land, water, and natural resources is an investment in future generations.
Bill has also supported education through an endowed scholarship at NC State University and leadership roles focused on student success and wellness.
